Lauren Faria
Seeing a need to connect with others during this COVID-19 pandemic, Lauren hosts weekly live music performances to a local retirement home via WebEx/ Zoom. This enables her to share her gift of music and love of S.T.E.A.M with others. Lauren launched “Learn with Lauren” series via Instagram and Facebook. On Wednesday, April; 22, she participated in a 24-hour music-thon with proceeds benefitting Project C.U.R.E.’s response to COVID-19 and relief efforts.
Lauren is a 17 year old senior at Flower Mound High School who plays flute for a top ten nationally ranked high school marching band and NASA High School Aerospace Scholar. In addition, Lauren is a proud: Air Force Junior ROTC First Lieutenant, Girl State nominee, Teen Council Advisory Board member for Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and National Music Honor Society member. Last December, Lauren was presented with a proclamation from her hometown’s mayor.

Lauren (top left): Lauren Faria is 17 years old and is a Senior this Year! Lauren aspires to be a NASA Engineer and send the first person to Mars. A fun fact about Lauren is that she is a second-generation American born citizen - half Portuguese and Filipino. She says, “I’m excited to be a Girl Edition founding member while making this a sustainable, safe place to talk and be a voice for teens.”
Jessica (top right) :Jessica Larry is 17 years old and is a senior this year. Jessica hopes to one day become a Forensic Psychologist. A fun fact about Jessica is that she can baton twirl! She says, “I am excited to reach more people as our viewers grow!”
Laurel (bottom left): Laurel Jones is 17 years old and is a senior this year. After high school, she hopes to one day become a Pediatric Surgeon. A fun fact about Laurel is that she has a bearded dragon named cuddles and she has been cheering since she was two years old and is currently the varsity cheer captain at TCHS! Laurel says, “I am so excited to show the world a teenage perspective of different topics, as well as helping/giving advice to other teenagers through our segment Ask G.E.”
Kimberly (bottom right): Kimberly Melendez is 17 years old and is a Senior this year! One day she hopes to blend her passions of voice and medicine to become an Otolaryngologist. A fun fact about Kim is that she is loves cooking and is really good at it! Kim says, “I am excited to help teens much like ourselves that are trying to navigate life right now. If we can say something to help even just one person, it’s worth it.”
